101st Annual Session of the East Zion Consolidated District Association

 

The 101st Annual Session of the East Zion Consolidated District Association (EZCDA) will meet, in an abreviated format, Monday and Tuesday evening, August 2 and 3, 2021, at 7pm.   Fairview Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1700 N. E. 7th Street, will be the Host Church, Dr. John A. Reed, Jr., Host Pastor.  The theme is “Working Together as we Contend for the Faith,” Jude 1:3.

The Association’s Centennial Celebration in 2020 included recognition of the Moderators that led the District over the past 100 years.  The Celebration was suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  A focal point of the 101st Annual Session will be recognition of Moderators that led the District and were not recognized in our 2020 services, as well as our District workers.  A brief overview of the Session is below.
 

Monday night will be the Official Opening of the 101st Session.  The Agenda will include a Memorial Period for members of EZDCA Churches that transitioned during the period of March 2020 to the present.  The highlight of the evening will be a tribute to the Living Legends, our Past Senior Moderators:  Rev. Hersey Hammons, Rev. W. B. Woodberry, Rev. John A. Reed, Jr., and Rev. W. B. Parker.  We will also pay tribute to Rev. J. H. Tucker, posthumous, who transitioned during in February 2020, during our Centennial year.  Other legends that will be acknowledged posthumously include Rev. W. K. Arnold, Rev. Eric A. Mayes, Jr., and Rev. Levi Smith.  Living Legend, Dr. John A. Reed, Jr., Host Pastor and Honorary Centennial Celebration Chairperson, will be the preacher for Monday night’s service. 
 

Tuesday night will be Moderator’s Night, with present Moderator, Dr. Kelly R. Booker, addressing the District with his Annual Message and presenting directions for the body, moving forward in the 2nd Century of service.  The remaining Moderators that served the EZCDA during the past 100-year period will be recognized.  They include Rev. Jeff L. Mitchell, Rev. A. R. Crawford, Rev. L. Mike Woodberry, and Rev. Kelly R. Booker.  On Tuesday night, all those that that have worked in the District, past and present, during its past 100-year history, will be recognized.   Also on Tuesday night, all officers that that have worked in the District during its past 100-year history, , past and present, will be recognized. 
 

Music for the Session will be under the direction of the District Musician, Brother Orinthal Wandick.  Also singing on Monday and Tuesday night will be churches of the scheduled preachers. 
 

All churches in the EZCDA, as well as the community, are encouraged to be a part of the services.  Family members, as well as churches where the Moderators served, will be special guests on the respective nights and will be acknowledged during the service.  The Center Section of the sanctuary will be reserved for special guests.
